Let me share with you a story of answered prayer and preface it with the thought that I am getting ready to preach on prayer this coming Sunday, Luke 18:1-8, the parable of the persistent widow to be exact.

I haven’t had a lot of work at FedEx this year and Noralee and I have both been searching for jobs without any luck. Yesterday we were looking over our financial situation and realized that we didn’t have enough money to pay all of our bills this month. Luckily, we have a small emergency fund, but that money was set aside for Noralee’s schooling this coming fall. We would have to use that entire fund to help us pay our bills. Add to that, Micah is starting tee-ball on Saturday and we need to get him a glove. Noralee and I joined hands right there in the kitchen and prayed for God to intervene. Since that prayer the following has happened…

  • I got a call from a contractor at FedEx asking me if I could work on Saturday.
  •  That evening someone came over to the house and gave us a $15 gift card to buy Micah his glove. (They had no idea we were struggling financially)
  • And this morning someone handed me a $100 bill.

This afternoon I took Micah to Walmart and bought him his glove (along with a baseball), put $10 in our savings account, and will place another $10 in the offering plate.

Is there any reason to doubt our God?  Is there any reason to worry? Is there any reason to doubt His deep love for us?

Keep praying folks. God continues to amaze me with His grace, mercy, and provision.
