As a pastor in a small rural church (~40) I often have the same thoughts! I listened to a sermon by Mark Driscoll (Mars Hill (Seattle)) about how a growing church needs "a dude" - meaning that attractive guy that will draw people in. I realize that's not me. It will not (unless God works some miracle plastic (and personality) surgery) ever be me! These thoughts don't just occur to someone going through a mid-life crisis...I think every pastor in the small church setting has them. I wish I had something inspiring to say, or some great piece of advice to give -- but I don't. Lord, help us to be the men You want us to be in the places and situations to which You have called us.
